This September, Chris, C, E and I are committed to walking 250km to #GetLoudforSickKids.
Last fall when E was sick, SickKids was there for us. They literally saved her life. Many times before that I had explained why it was important to build a new SickKids, and I wholeheartedly believed it. But after our own stay in the ICU I have a new perspective. I slept in a chair, far from her bedside or wandered the halls at night. I wore headphones while doctors did rounds, so I didn’t hear the personal details of other patients in her shared room. We were moved into isolation when E caught a virus, due to lack of infection control. And we are among the lucky ones. But it doesn’t need to be that way.
SickKids has always been on the front lines in the fight for children’s health. But the clinical facilities at SickKids are close to 70 years old. Today, one of the biggest battles at SickKids is against the limits of an old building.
Help me unleash the full potential of SickKids by donating online – it’s safe, secure and easy. Any amount you give today will help me reach my fundraising goal.
Let’s run, walk or ride for SickKids. When we unite in the fight against limits at SickKids, we’re unstoppable.
