GetLoud Sick Kids Fund by Vanessa Alyssa Crudo
Hi everyone, as you may know I am a former Child Life Volunteer at The Hospital for Sick Children working in the Hematology/Oncology & Multi Organ Transplant Units.
This year I am volunteering at the GetLoud for SickKids fundraiser event on September 28th 2019.. I’m joining an army: 3000+ SickKids supporters rallying together for GetLoud.
It would mean more than the world to me to be able to contribute to the fund of the newest 2.5 billion dollar SickKids hospital and this is why..
My hope is to give these children a better, more enjoyable hospital stay with the creation of a bigger better SICKKIDSr. I want to pay back because of the true impact the hospital has had on mine and my family's life. I am raising in honour of my brothers childhood and also all the sick children fighting their battle every day weather it has to do with heart dieases, childhood cancer, eating disorders, mental health or any of all the other types of childhood illness’ . These children deserve to have the best home while being there..
A little story into the life of my brother..
My brother was born with a congenital heart disease called tricuspid atresia. Tricuspid atresia is a type of heart disease that is present at birth, in which the tricuspid heart valve is missing. In other words, born with half a heart. The defect blocks blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle. He recieved open heart surgery at one year old. This causing him to be in and out of the hospital 4-5 times a week for the first ten years of his life. With multiple surgeries, many procedures and thousands of needles his childhood, he will never get back. These past years have come with complications but the fight is strong. The Hospital For Sick Children has helped my brother conquer the unexplainable and he is now living a gracious, beautiful life.
This is one of MANY reasons I want to give back and help raise money to build the newest hospital for Sick Children.
SickKids has always been on the front lines in the fight for children’s health. But the clinical facilities at SickKids are close to 70 years old. Today, one of the biggest battles at SickKids is against the limits of an old building.
Help me unleash the full potential of SickKids by donating online – it’s safe, secure and easy. Any amount you give today will help me reach my fundraising goal.
Everyday is a new day to be thankful .. never take life for granted it is a true blessing. I thank you all in advance for your generosity, any amount is more than appreciated..
Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart<3!
